GENERAL FORECAST
The anti-cyclone over the Tasman Sea and New Zealand has decreased further in intensity. A slight cyclone is still located each of the Auckland Peninsula, while another one has developed off the New South Wales coast. Southerly winds north of Farewell Spit and Kailcoura, strong at times in the northern districts and along the east coast, but otherwise moderate; moderate and variable elsewhere, with northerlies prevailing. A considerable swell north of Cape Egmont and between East Cape and Kaikoura; elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate southerly winds in the northern portion, and westerly to southerly in the southern portion of the Eastern Tasman Sea. Seas moderate. Weather still mainly fair, but unsettled, with showers in the northern and East Coast districts of the North Island. Later cloud gradually increasing generally. DISTRICT REPORT. FAIR TO CLOUDY. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for variable and moderate breezes, but southerly moderate winds prevailing and freshening late.. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather. The barometer shows little movement. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon. —Summer level.
