THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. An anti-cyclone is now moving toward New Zealand. Pressure is falling over Tasmania. Southerly winds strong at first in the northern portion of the North Island and in the far south, but decreasing, and otherwise light to moderate; later winds veering to north-westerly in and south of Cook Strait. Seas rough, but decreasing on the W T est Coast of the South Island and about Foveaux Strait; elsewhere moderate in New Zealand . waters. Light to moderate south-westerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, later veering to westerly in the southern portion; seas moderate. Weather mainly fair to cloudy, but isolated showers at first in the far north and south, and on the East Coast of the North Island. Temperatures becoming warmer and fine weather may of the Dominion.
DISTRICT REPORT. FAIR CONDITIONS. The Government meteorologist wired to-day:—The indications are for moderate southerly breezes. There is a prospect of fair weather. The barometer is rising slowly. _ MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon. —3ins.
