FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) FuXT'ON, Dee. 1. Among the additional business transacted at yesterday’s meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was the following.—Correspondence was received from various sources making offers to the board for the purchase of the suction dredge Henncssy which has lain idle moored near the pumping station for some years. It was decided to call tenders for tlie dredge and to dispose of the plant to the highest bidder. Mr I’erreau said that everything moveable had neon stolen from the dredge and gear was strewn all along the rivet bank. Mr \V. G. Shortt (Palmerston North) wrote pointing out the lack of water at the 'camping ground at Manawatu Heads and also drawing attention to sanitary conditions. The matter was referred to the local committee who will confer with Mr Shortt, The chairman intimated that lie had been approached by a beach resident for the use of the recreation area at the rear of the hull for grazing pur]>oses. Tho matter was left in the hands of tlie local committee. Tho chairman said that be had made an inspection of the board’s endowment north of the old river bed at the beach and there were 240 acres of flat there whicli was growing grass and clover that could bo improved and possibly brought into cultivation. Ho suggested that the local committee take the matter up with ft view to bringing it into cultivation. Mr Edwards made reference to the loss of the coastal vessel Kotiti and expressed bis deepest sympathy witu. tho relatives and owners of the vessel. The board endorsed bis expression of sympathy. In conclusion the chairman extended festive greetings to board members.
