LADIES’ GUILD EFFORTS

FUNCTIONS HELD TO-DAY

Glorious summer weather made cir cumstances entirely favourabl .* • garden parties which were held af Tho°°Ladies - Guild of St Methodist Church conducted their function at the delightful grounds of “Hemswell,” tire residence of Mr and Mrs H. E. Pacey, in Russell Street, where pretty flowers made a Picturesque setting. Competitions and tennis were indulged in, and patrons spent a pleasant time. The afternoon tea arrangements were in the hands of Mesdames E. C. Barnett, W. H. Thompson,' A. Tregurtha and J. Teale. The stall-holders were as follow :—- Plain work: Mesdames G. H. Bennett, G H. Bycrcft and J. Lowden. Fancy-work: Mesdames J. E. Parsons, H. Smith and Rowntree: Produce: Mesdames F. R. B. Chin. J. Cunninghamo and H. E. Pacey. Cakes: Mesdames W. B. Cameron, L. Laurenson, G. Bennett, Allan and Walker. ALL SAINTS’ CHURCH. PARTY AT VICARAGE. A very pleasant afternoon was spent by visitors to the garden party conducted bv the Missionary Guild of All Saints’ Church at the vicarage, and some enjoyable (competitions were held. The * function was officially opened by the Mayoress (Mrs A. E. Mansford). The stall-liolders were as follow: Produce, Mrs E. Byrne and Miss J. Woodward. Sweets: Misses G. Hands and M. Dawick. Fancy:, Misses Pasley. (2) and R. Mercer. The afternoon tea arrangements were in the charge of Mesdames Metcalfe and Dawick and Miss K. Owtram.
