NOT COMMUNISM.

CANADA’S FARM SOCIALISM. The Canadian farmers’ advocacy of Socialism in order to relieve their financial troubles, which are due to the slump in wheat, has nothing to do with Communism, says a Vancouver message. There is country-wide sympathy with their dilemma because many formerly prosperous farmers are losing their lands for unpaid taxes, but there is no sign of violence or definite revolutionary activity in all this, though Communists have endeavoured *to agitate amongst these people. Several recent events have reduced the popularity of Communism in Canada, even among people leaning in that direction. First, in the Estevan riots it was a notable fact that Communists leaders started the trouble, and then left for parts unknown, leaving their ignorant followers to fight and die in the battle with the mounted police. Then eight of their leaders were convicted in Toronto and sentenced to long terms, and ordered to be deported.
