TOWN VERSUS COUNTRY.

ANNUAL CRICKET MATCH. ' Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 2. The annual Town v. Country cricket match commenced at the Basin Reserve in fine weather. The teams are as follow:

Town. —K. C. James (captain), HM. McGirr, A. Biggar, C, S. Dempster, A. W. Duncan, J. R. Lamason, R. 6rook, S. Ward, W. J. R. Christopherson, B. Griffiths, H. N. Lambert.

Country.—T. C. Lowry (captain), D. A. Cameron, W. Haywood (Rangitikei), J. Newman, A. Newman, E. R. NeSle (Nelson), T. P. Renney, M. O’Brien, A. Beck (Hawke’s Bay), W. Montgomery (Wairarapa), A. Cutler (Manawatu). Lowry won the toss and Country batted on a perfect wicket, Cameron and Neale opening the innings. They started badly and at noon the score was 43 for four wickets. Lowry then played a breezy knock, batting for half an hour and hitting eight fours. Beck and Hayward made a useful partnership and at lunch the score was 100 for five wickets.
