THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST.
A slight depression has crossed the South Island. An anti-cyclone advancing over the Tasman Sea has gradually lost intensity and pressure is now falling over south-eastern Australia. Modeiate south-westerly to westerly, veenng later to north-westerly and freshening Seas rather rough on parts of the Rest Coast and in Foveaux Strait; elsewhere moderate- in New Zealand wateis. Moderate westerlies, veering to freshening north-westerly winds! sea moderate to rather rough in the Tasnian Sea. Fair to fine weather prevailing generally. Temperatures gradually becoming warmer. Later unsettled conditions setting in in western districts. DISTRICT REPORT. CLOUDY AMD UNSETTLED. The Government meteorologist wired to-day . The indications are for northerly moderate to strong, and freshening winds. The weather appears likely to be cloudy and unsettled, with rain'following. The barometer is falling slowly. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon.—2ft.
