WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.

YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. There was a modcrato demand far stocks and- shares on tho Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday. At tho afternoon call tho list of selling quotations was a particularly full one. There was a restricted demand for Government securities. Tho 5i per cents., stocks and bonds, 1937, seem to be popular, and yesterday investors offered par for both. The 4£ per cent, bonds, 1938, were in demand at £9B. with a salo reported at £9B ss. New Zealand Browerios bonds were firm at 21s. _ ' There was a good inquiry for bank shares. Australian Bank of Commerce at 12s 3d, and Commercial Bank of Australia ordinary at 13s Id, were unchanged. Commercial Bank of Sydney at £l2 12s 6d were 2s 6d higher. English, Scottish, and Australian Bank advanced Is to £3 11s. National Bank of New Zealand wore down Is at £3 15s. National Bank of Australasia, £5 paid, wore unchanged at £4 6s. Buyers again offered £24 10s for Bank of Now South Wales, but there were no sellors. Bank of Now Zealand sold at 47s 6d, and the long-term shares wore steady at 26s 9d. Queensland National Bank wore wanted at £4 Is, the shares being £5 each, fully paid. Goldsbrough, Mort and Co. were steady at 19s 2d. New Zealand Guarantee Corporation, preference, at 20s, and Wellington Trust and Loan at £6 5s wore unchanged. National Insurance wero in demand at 12s Bd, with no sellers. New Zealand Insurance at 37s 9d and South British Insurance at 50s 6d wore steady. Auckland Gas were again in demand at 22s 9d. Gear Meat wore steady at 265, and Now Zealand Refrigorating, 10s paid, wero up 3d at 3s 6d. There wa3 no demand for Now Zealand Browerios, but there were sellers at 31s. Staples and Co. wero wanted at 25s 3d; Carlton Brewery were up 3d at 20s 3d; Tooth’s Brewery were steady at 16s 9d for £1 paid shares, and for Toohoy’s Brewery 12s 6d was bid for shares 16s each fully paid. British Tobacco were slightly firmer at 23s 3d. Electrolytio Zinc, ordinary, were 6d lower at 7s, and the preference were 4d lower at 15s. N.Z. Farmers’ Fertiliser wore in demand at 10s, with no sellers. N.Z. Paper Mills were firm at 17s 9d, and Wilson’s Cement at 35s 7d. Moturoa Oil were up 2d at 5s 2d, and there was a bid of 2s 3d for King Solomon mining. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
