STATEMENT TO BOARD. Reporting to the monthly meetino of the Palmerston North Hospital Board yesterday afternoon upon the financial position, the manrging-secre-tarv (Mr Phillipps) stated that a romptehen'ive statement of comparative expenditure would be submitted at the end of September. He said the board was at present £SOO ahead of the .same period last year in its expenditure, but the stock in the bulk store was valued at £IOOO greater than for last year. However, lie said, it was going to he a struggle to keep within the hospital maintenance estimates, for the first four months of this financial year, exclusive of £2OOO owing in respect "of Hawke’s Bay patients, fees received from patients had amounted to £3500, compared with £3685 for the corresponding perio dof last year. Charitable aid expenditure for four months had been £2046 6s 7d. compared with an estimate of £1606. The chairman (Mr Hornblow) said the figures were favourable under tlie circumstances.
