WORK OF PARLIAMENT
ANOTHER FULL DAY. fßv Telegraph—Special to Standard.) K 7 WELLINGTON, Aug. 14. Tlxe debating of the Financial Statement failed to exhaust the list speakers in the House of Representatives to-day and the subject will hav ■ to be continued next week. Exactly half the total number of members have given their views, but to-day the speeches, following such a long succession, produced little originality. There was, however, some brightness over the effort of the Independent member for Gisborne, Air W. D. Lysnar, who, without restraint, told his former friends of the Reform Party his opinions of them. Mr A. E. Jull contributed some useful information regarding the distribution of the Hawke’s Bay Earthquake Relief Fund and .the chief Government Whip. Mr G. C. Munns, discussing the difficulties of workers win are clients of the State Advances De_ partment, suggested that under the present conditions the Government would be wise to authorise not only nn extension of the term of repayment as a means of relief blit also, if necessary to refund some of the principal monies which had been paid in brighter times.
The newly elected member for Hauraki, Mr W. W. Massey, impressed the House with his knowledge of local bodjy affairs, and the Minister of Transport, Hon. W. A. Veitch, heard some useful criticism of the proposed transport regulations in this maiden speech, which was rewarded with spontaneous applause.
