RUSSIAN CHURCH RAIDED

WARSAW, Aug. 5. It is reported from Vilna that an O.G.P.U. (Soviet “Unified State Political Department”) detachment raided a Catholic church in a village near the Russian frontier, shot dead seven worshippers, wounded 14, and arrested 145. The leader of the detachment stated that he was informed that a meeting of counter-revolutionaries was being held in the church. The troops got out of control when they were refused admission. The shooting caused a panic among the Catholic population.
