WCODVTLLE, Aug. 5. A fall of snow occurred yesterday afternoon and evening in the country surrounding Woodvilie. Low-lying hills _ around Kilmeroa and Hopelands were weli coated yesterday, while the Puketoi Ranges and Alt. Whariti were covered in a mantle of white. The Mangatainoka Co-operative Dairy Company recently sold tno remainder of the season’s output of cheese at 6*0., equal to about 65s fid on consignment, as against the present market price of fils to fit-. In spite of wintry weather, there was a very fair attendance at the monthly meeting of the Woodvilie Women’s Institute, on 'i uesday afternoon. Mrs Nixon took the chair, and seven new members were nominated and heartily welcomed. The chiei attraction of thi3 meeting was a lecture on horticulture, very ably given by Air Hamilton, cf Pahiatua, which dealt chiefly with the cultivation oi roses and dahlias, though other subjects were touched on, and ample opportunity given for questions at the close oi the address. Beautiiul work was shown in a competition for the prettiest handmade hanukerchief, which was judged by Airs Hamilton, and won by Alr3 T. A. B. Sinclair. Airs G. L. Hartridge and Alias Kirkpatrick had charge of a surprise packet stall which quickly sold out. A guessing competition was won by Alr3 Halpin. A hearty vote of thanks to Air and Airs Hamilton for their kindly help was carried by acclamation, after wnieh afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Alesdame-s 11.
