MOCK PARLIAMENT.

Y.M.C.A. DEBATING CLUB. There was a good attendance at the Y.M.C.A. Debating Club last evening, when the programme took the form of a mock Parliament, which proved most interesting. . . The Speaker was Mr A. E. right and the Sergeant-at-Arms Mr Pitkethly. Mr Sinclair was the Leader, of the Opposition and his able colleagues were Mr F. Opie, Mr Wilson and Mr Garde Grimshaw. The Labour Party was represented by Mr L. P. Hardy (Leader), Miss E. Christian, Messrs H. and B. Klein, Mr B. Johansen, Mr M. Gillett and Mr D. Young. Mr A. H. Campbell as Prime Minister was supported by Mr J. Dempsey, Mr J. Barnao, Mr"Millen and Mrs T. Young. The speeches of the party leaders were keenly enjoyed and were ably supported by others chosen to fulfill offices in the mock Parliament. Following the speeches, the proceedings were open for general discussion. After the various leaders had delivered their speeches in reply, and ouestions had been asked across the House, a vote of “no-confidence” was passed in the Government, this being carried unanimously, while an amendment by Labour met with little response. There were present members- of the Business Girls’ Lunch Club and the Junior Reform League, while several apologies for absence were received. A vote of thanks to Mr Wright for his excellent control of the proceedings closed a most instructive and amusing evening.
