RANGITIKEI.
3IARTON, Aug. 2. A well-attended meeting of the Loyal Marton Lodge was held on Friday evening, N.G. Bro. H. G. Allison being in charge. Reports showed two members on the sick list, one as the result cf an accident. Both were making good progress. Correspondence included invitations from Dannevirke Lodge to a ro-union social, and Kimbolton Lodge to the installation of officers. The lodge will probably be represented at the former function. The committee appointed to interview unfinaneial members gave a satisfactory report, and made certain recommendations which were adopted. A degree lecture was held, the white and blue degrees being conferred on a number of members. A visitor from Papakura Lodge was welcomed and accorded lodge honours. After lodge closed supper was served and games and dancing indulged in. Figures supplied by 3lr E. ,T. Wilde “Mirfield,” .\larton, show July to have been an exceptionally wet month, 5.45 inches of rain having fallen in 27 davs, making an average daily rainfall of .372. For the seven months up to July 27.16 inches fell as against an average of 21.86 inches for the corresponding period over a number of years.
On Thursday afternoon basketball and football teams frem Lytton Street School, Feilding, visited 3larton to try conclusions with the 3LD.H.S. teams. The local players proved too strong, the boys winning the football by 39 points to 3, and the girls winning the basketball by 17 to 6.
