Members of the New Zealand executive of the United Party at their weekly meeting last evening expressed i satisfaction at the appreciation of the i Prime Minister shown by the supporti ers of the Reform Party in the Huru- • nui electorate by their decision that it i was desirable to retain his services to | the country and not to oppose him at j the forthcoming general election. I It was unanimously decided that, in | view of the Prime Minister’s desire to ; have a national party administering } iiit- affaits ot the Dominion, witn j which the executive ire wholly in j agreement, and as members ot the executive desired nothing should be i done to militate against this, the New i Zealand executive of the United Party ! would recommend to the party's orga--1 nisation in the Kaipara electorate that j a candidate should not be nominated i to oppose the Leader of the Opposij tion. WELLINGTON, July 23. ; Acknowledging the compliment paid him by the Reformers of Hurunui and | the action of the national executive •of the Reform Party in regard to the ; matter, Mr Forbes to-day said that | his views in regard to the desirability | of securing the utmost unity and cooperation among all sections of the community had not changed, but had strengthened. He was even more convinced to-day that it would be in the best interests of the country were it possible to put them in operation. He hoped that the lead shown by the electors of Hurunui might lie followed in other parts of the Dominion.
