RACING NEWS.

FROM STABLE AND COURSE* (By “Binocular.”) The cognomen of Tea Trader has been conferred on the Tea Tray—Epitaph rising two-vear-o!d owned in the north bv Mr R T. Reid. Taurus, who was formerly trained by J. T. Jamieson at Takanini, has been accorded a change of stables and is now quartered with A. Cook at Te Awamutu. H. Gray, who will emerge at the head of the jockeys’ championship for the second year in succession, will be first horseman for the Kc-rnball stable next season. Trustee, of whom good things were expected earlier in the season, claims engagements at tho Gisborne meeting and, in the weaker class he will be required to meet, . may make some amends. Acteon, for whom Mr W. R. Kemball paid 30Ggns at the Jefferd sale, is due to make an appearance in the Rangiotu Plate at Awapuni to-morrow. The two-year-old brother to False Scent is .stated to have made good progress. Braggart, who is down to contest the Flaxbourne Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase at Awapuni .tc-morrow, can boast relationship to Paganeili, but the local representative has fallen far short in calibre. A tremendous stridc-r, it is hardly likely that he will find the going to his liking. In the early stages of her career Decree Nisi, the Royal Divorce —Railand filly in E. \V. Watson’s it-am at Awapuni, showed promise, but she had to be thrown out of work for a time. However, she is back in the active ranks again and may be found competing in the P.angiotu Plate to-morrow. Jean Ladosio, who figures among the entrants for the Rangiotu Plate to-mor-row, is a brown filly by Arausio from the Sir Laddo mare Jeanne Laddo, and is, therefore, a full-sister to Arajean and a half-sister to Arrow Lad, Some Lad and Mountain Jean. Her breeder, Mr C. Jones, has been personally supervising her education . at Awapuni. Morrath, a three-year-old filly by Tea Tray—Blackada in R. E. Hatch’s charge at Awapuni, is thus related to those former well-known performers, Piuthair, Novar, Clarinda, Clandhu and Callanmore. Some few days -back the filly was troubled with lameness, but . she now appears to have thrown off the slight indisposition. Little has been seen of Maui this searson, but the Arrowsmith gelding has been accorded a nomination for the Newbury Handicap, a nine furlongs event, at Awapuni to-morrow, and it remains to be seen whether the Foxton representative will take his place in the field. His younger half-brother Arikira (by Lirnond) figures in the same event, out it is. possible that the latter will prefer firmer tracks. Awapuni stables supply eight of the nominations tor the Longburn Hurdles tomorrow, but two at least will in all probability fail to take their place, for Red F'uchsia was not himself after racing at Trentharn, and Star Girl has been turned out for a brief spell. Callarnart, Llandudno, Warzone and Llyn Du all raced at Trentham, and Evening Hero and Desert Lad will be added to the contingent. The lastnamed is, however, a novice performer. T. Metcalf is at present engaged in educating a couple of full-sistere, the property of Mr P. O’Connor, of Palmerston North. Both are by Lackhara from Frivolous, the elder being a rising three-year-old who has given his rider some exciting moments in the saddle. • 1 Last season Trojan Mc-lodv had only two outings with the colours up and at his second essay the Hunting Song gelding ran third at the Otaki meeting. He early opened his winning account in the new season at Dannevirke and then returned to Otaki to win'the Pahiko Hack Handicap at the October meeting. At the summer meeting of the Manawatu Club Trojan Melody scored in the West bury Handicap and added further to his record at the Otaki winter meeting after he had run third on the previous day. The latter performance he repeated at the past Trentharn fixture for, after running third in the Petone Handicap on the second day, he wound up by winning tho Kia Ora Handicap on Saturday which brought his stake earnings for the season to £SOO, the sum of £465 being forthcoming from first platings. Flamingo is the name that has been seolcted for the rising two-year-old colt by Tea Tray—Afterglow, who is having the rudiments o£ his education imparted to him by L. Gray at Hasitngs. The dam of Flamingo is New Zealand-bred, having been bred by Mr G. D. Greenwood, by Demosthenes —Sunglow (half sister to Martian;, by Multiform. After a spell extending over eight months Sir Archie is again being trained in the north. A eerious mishap a few years ago caused Sir Archie to lose all form and in spite of a good spell ho failed to regain his dash, with the result that he was given another holiday. He is reported to have come back this time in robust condition and the indications are that his long rest has had a very beneficial effect. <
