SHIPMENTS TO AUSTRALIA. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ACT’S. Received July 3, 9.55 a.in. CANBERRA, July 3. The Federal Government lias taken definite action to prevent the dumping of Russian timber. It is demanding security at the rate of ton shillings per 100 super feet, pending inquiries by the Tariff Board as to whether a dumping duty is necessary. It is stated that the trade balance between Australia and Russia is heavily in favour of Australia.
