BOXING.

BOXING AT TIAIARU. PROFKSSIONAL CONTESTS. Per Press Association. TIMARU, July 2. Two professional contests were staged by the Timaru Boxing Association to-night. Tommy Fairliall defeated Fred Parker, the referee stopping the fight in the eight round. Fairliall gave a clever exhibition and had the measure of Parker from the first round. In the other contests, G. Wright (Christchurch) defeated D. Richardson (Timaru), the referee declaring the latter helpless on the ropes in tho sixth round. 'l’lic fight was willing throughout, Richardson taking heavy punishment but displaying great gameness. Wright was also distressed, and the fight could not have gone much further. Tho decision met with a mixed reception.
