PROSECUTION IN SAMOA

PENALTIES TOTAL £5600.

Received April 22, 10.50 a.m. APIA, April 21. This morning Mr Justice Luxford convicted Nelson and Company, Ltd., on twenty-eight charges under the Seditious Organisations Ordinance and inflicted a fine of £2OO in respect of each charge, the fines totalling £5600. On a second series of charges under the Maintenance of Authority in Native Affairs Ordinance the prosecution withdrew the charges. _ Summing up, the judge strongly condemned the defendant company.
