GENERAL FORECAST. The recent anti-cyclone is passing gradually eastward and pressure is falling over New Zealand. A series of slight westerly depressions is passing in tire south. Moderate to strong westerly to northerly winds. Seas rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate. Freshening northerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea with rather rough seas. Weather mainly fair to fine, but with scattered showers in the western and far northern and southern districts; becoming more generally unsettled by Sunday. DISTRICT REPORT. FAIR TO CLOUDY. » The Government meteorologist wired to-day: —The indications are for moderate northerly breezes, freshening at times. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather. The barometer is unsteady with a falling tendency. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon, 2ft 3in.
