A message from Marseilles quotes King Alfonso as saying: “Believe me, more courage was needed to do what I have done than to lead a cavalry charge.” When he was entering the train for Paris to-day he said: — “We shall see what happens after the elections. My exile is only provisional.” This means that Alfonso will remain in France until June, hoping that the populace will recall him after the elections in that month. UNEXPECTED CHANGE. Queen Ena arrived in Paris to-day and received an affectionate welcome from the Spanish Monarchists, after which she drove to the Hotel Meurice. The Queen said in an interview that the sudden change in the Spanish opinion was altogether unexpected. “There was a kind of Keel Communist wave, which swept all before it. The people were in a state of frenzy. If we had remained in Madrid I do not know what might have happened. Even our lives .” Her Majesty did not finish the sentence. She added that the King did not desire to appeal to the army, which was partly for him. It is very probable that lie will take up a ranch in Canada —near that of the Prince of Wales—where he will breed prize cattle and horses. “It is understood that Lord Londonderry Iras invited Alfonso to occupy either his West End or one of his country homes.” QUEEN ENA’S TREASURES. Reports indicate that at every station after crossing the frontier Queen Ena’s train was stopped and the Queen was greeted with the warmest acclaim by sympathetic crowds. She arrived at Bordeaux at 1.22 o’clock in the morning. The British United Press Paris correspondent states that the Queen’s treasures include a gold crown and one of the most valuable collection of pearls in the world. THE ABANDONED PALACE.
