IN PACKING CASE.
PARISIAN’S RUSE TO LEAVE FRANCE.
FIVE DAYS AMONG LINER’S CARGO.
Received April 11, 9.25 a.m. PARIS, April 10. “I will go to America, even if I have to go in a box.” This was what Louis Chianese, a Parisian, aged 20, often told his parents. A few days ago thev received a bill for transporting a packing case aboard the liner Lafayette. Meanwhile Louis had disappeared. His parents sent wireless messages to the liner, in mid Atlantic, with the result that Louis was discovered in the packing case, which he had occupied for ing case, which he had occupied for cargo. It appears that the box was labelled “Stow away from boilers,” and arrived at a carrier’s office on a hand cart, accompanied with an intimation that it contained hats for a New York firm.
It is expected that the authorities will not permit Louis to land in America.
Upon his return to France lie will be prosecuted on various charges.
