GENERAL FORECAST. A rather deep cyclone is centred OA’er Cook Strait. The anti-cyclone over south-eastern Australia is making sloav programs eastAvard. Winds betAA’een north and Avest at first north of Wanganui and Castlepoint, but south-easterlies or southerlies gradually becoming general; strong to gale force fr&m Oook Strait nortlnvard; elseAvhere moderate. Seas rough on the East Coast and north of FareAA'ell Spit. Strong southerly Avinds and rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather still dull and misty generally with fog on parts of the East Coast. Further general rain with some heavy falls in the central and eastern districts of the North Island. Improving shortly in AA'estern districts. Temperatures cool. DISTRICT REPORT. COLD ANDSHOWERY. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for southerly Avinds, strong to gale. The weather Avill probably prove cold and showery. Conditions will improve tomorroAV. The barometer is rising. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon.—3ft. 6in.
