MR CHARLES SCOTT’S FEAT. AVIATOR BORN IN LONDON. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received April 11, 11.30 a.m. RUGBY, April 10. Airs Charles Anderson Scott, the wife of the aviator, and their little daughter, who are staying near London, are overjoyed by to-day’s news after many days of anxious strain. Air Scott is a Londoner, and was educated at Westminster School. When he was in the Royal Air Force he was heavyweight boxing champion. Air Scott’s ’plane is a 120 li.p. Gipsy Moth and is a standard machine except for the extra petrol storage. Throughout the flight, the engine, which was of the same type as that used by Air Commodore Kingsford Smith, "behaved perfectly. NOT AN”AUSTRALIAN. REPLY TO MR SCULLIN. Received April 11, 12.20 p.m. LONDON, April 10. “Charles is* 1 pure English, body and soul,” Air Charles Scott’s father declared in reply to Air J. H. Scullin’s claim that Air Scott was an Australian. “A NICE TRIP.” NO AIORE RECORD BREAKING. Received April 11, 1 p.m. DARWIN, April 11. Air Charles Anderson Scott was entertained at dinner last evening by local businessmen. His toast was: “To Squadron-Leader Bert Hinkler, the man who made the first record.” The airman said that he had a nice trip save for a bad crossing of the Java Valley and Sumboy.a. He was glad to have beaten the record, but would not try breaking it again for a million pounds. Air Scott will not grant an interview. “A GREAT PIECE OF WORK.” KINGSFORD SMITH’S PRAISEReceived April 11, 1.10 p.m. MELBOURNE, April 11. Air Commodore Kingsford Smith sent a telegram to Air Scott conveying heartiest congratulations. Kingsford Smith describes the flight as a great piece of work. UNDERGRADUATES’ FLIGHT. SINGAPORE LEFT. Received April 11, 1.10 p.m. SINGAPORE, April 11. Alessrs Fairbaim and Shenstone, the Cambridge undergraduates, who are flying to Australia, left for Muntok, in the Dutch East Indies, this morning.
