|From Our Own Correspondent.) „ SANDOX, April 9. The hall and stage of the Public Hall, Sanson, wore tastefully decorated in orange and red on Wednesday night when the residents of the district tendered the farewell social and dance to Air and Mrs W S. (Strode) Penny and family, who arc leaving the district. A very large gathering ot friends both from the surrounding districts and from further afield attended the social. Airs Penny was becomingly gowned in brown crcpe-dc-chinc. Her daughters, Airs W. Chapman, wore pink georgette, Miss Phyllis Penny, floral georgette, Aiiss Atarjorio Penny black satin beautc, and Aiiss Peggy Penny blue satin beaute. Several items were interspersed between dances and were greatly appreciated by the audience. The local “Melody Four” (Alessrs A. Iv. Drew, H. V. Bond, F. W. Tostevin and J. Currie) were in good form and rendered several items. Their filial item, “Farewell Strode,” was mot with loud applause. Solos were rendered by Airs A. Anderson and Air E. A. Caldow and were heartily applauded. All\V. E. Pearce, on behalf of the residents of the district, asked Mr and Mrs Penny and family to accept a handsome mahogany canteen of cutlery as a mark of the esteem in which they were held.
