GENERAL FORECAST.
An anti-cyclone is covering. New Zealand. A depression is situated over south-eastern Australia. Winds light and variable, but 60on tending northerly and later freshening in and south of Cook Strait. Seas smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate but freshening northerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, with smooth to moderate seas.. Weather fine generally with-rising temperatures, but cloud increasing in western districts. DISTRICT REPORT. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for freshening northerly winds. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather after about 16 hours. The weather appears to be cloudy and unsettled. It will probably become warmer. The barometer is falling slowly.
