UNITED STATES MEASURES. REJECTION BY HOUSE COMMITTEE. REASON FOR ACTION. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). Received February 24, 9.5 a.m. WASHINGTON, Feb. 23. All embargo and tariff bills, including the proposed limitation of oil imports to sixteen million barrels annually, were rejected to-day by the Ways and Means Committee of the House of Representatives. This action is taken as definitely preventing the introduction during the present -session of Congress of a bill designed to place an embargo on Canadian wheat imports, as advocated by the Farm Board officials recently. The bill to ban all Russian products was also rejected. The committee does not expect to meet again during the present session.
