STORMY WEATHER
rain, wind and hail. UNUSUAL FEBRUARY AV FATHER. Climatic conditions in the Alanawatu district this summer continue to be most variable. Yesterday was very stormy, heavy showers being accompanied by a blustering wind, which blew with the velocity of a gale at times. Heavy clouds closed in last evening with all the indications of a storm. During the night heavy rain tell and the wind blew in furious gusts. There was a sharp hailstorm in the early hours of the morning. During the 48 hours ended at 9 a.m to-dav there was a heavy rainfall of 91 points (nearly one inch) according to Mr T R Aloore, of “AAaimarama, Terrace End. He stafes that yesterday the barometer fell rapidly' to -9.1, the lowest level lie had know for years, but it has since risen three points. There were showers of hail at 11 a.m. and L3O p.m. to-day, and cold conditions prevailed, being most unusual for February It is considered that the weather may remain unsettled for a considerable time, with frequent squalls.
