BRITISH ’PLANES.
THE BELGIAN ORDER
LONDON, Feb. 19
The Daily Telegraph’s aviation correspondent reveals that the Belgian order for British ’planes was given after a remarkable test. The value of the orders exceeds £300,000. Mr C. R. Fairey, whose company was concerned in the deal, during the negotiations, told the Belgians that Ills single-seater machine could plunge vertically earthward from an altitude of 20,000 feet at a rate of 380 miles an hour and then safely pull up out of the dive. This amazing test was successfully carried out. Foreign competitors refused a challenge to do likewise, and the order was given to Britain.
