FAMOUS MOTORIST

HONOURED BY THE KING. KNIGHTHOOD FOR CAPTAIN CAMPBELL. ARRIVAL IN ENGLAND. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph —Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received February 20, 11 a.m. RUGBY, Feb. 19. The Kipg has conferred a knighthood upon Captain Malcolm Campbell, the famous speed motorist, who has returned to England by. the Mauretania. The news of the honour was conveyed to Captain Campbell in a note from the Prime Minister, which was handed to him . immediately the Mauretania reached Southampton. The note said:

. “I am glad to inform you that His Majesty has been pleased to approve that the honour of a knighthood be conferred upon you.” The Prime Minister’s message expressed his personal congratulations. In an interview, Captain Campbell said that he wished the United States aspirant for the record the best of luck. If the speed of 300 miles an hour, which it was stated the new car would achieve, were reached he would attempt to go one better and regain the title. The Bluebird had not done her fastest yet. Visibility was one of the great obstacles to be overcome by future record breakers. Captain Campbell will leave Southampton for London to-morrow. A great popular welcome is in preparation.
