MOTOR CYCLE RACING
CITY COUNCIL’S DECISIONS. "Since the Speedways commenced numerous complaints have been made about the noise. This is a question that should be dealt with by the council, as it is out of our control without tho council’s instructions,” reported the traffic manager (Mr Patton) to tho meeting of the Palmerston North City Council last evening. Acting on the recommendation of the transit committee, the council decided that the following conditions under which motor cycle racing is permitted at the Kilbirnie Stadium be made applicable to Palmerston North:—(a) Approved silencers to be fitted to all machines taking part in the racing, (b) A traffic inspector to be in attendance at each meeting who will have authority, to prohibit the use of any machine that in his opinion is not fitted with an effective silencing device, (c) That the machines used in each event shall immediately prior to the race be submitted to the' inspector for an examination trial of tire silencing devices fitted. (d) That the Palmerston Speedways, Ltd., shall pay the sum of £2 2s per meeting to the Palmerston North City Council for the services of the inspector.
