FINANCIAL CRISIS.
CHANCELLOR QUESTIONED
Received February 17, 1.15 p.m. LONDON. Feb. 16. Mr Philip Snowden, Chancellor of the Exchequer, was pressed in the House of Commons by many questioners to indicate the nature of his proposals to deal with the financial crisis, particularly Cabinet Ministers’ sacrifice. lie adamantly refused to add a word to last week’s speech.
DROP IN STOCK QUOTATIONS
Received l'tbruary 17, 1.55 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 16. Following the recent speeches of Mr Philip Snowden and Mr Lloyd George a considerable weakness had developed on the Stock Exchange. British funds are all one to two points lower and several Australian stocks are marked down by about the same extent.
