“POSITION VERY SERIOUS.”

“The position is a very serious one, and members will have to fully consider the matter before the end of the financial year,” stated the chairman of the Palmerston North Hospital Board, Mr J. K. Hornblow, in commenting upon a statement shoyving the finances at the end of nine months, at the meeting of the board yesterday. The abstract, which was presented by the managing secretary, Mr A. J. Phillipps stated that although the income from patients’ fees was over the estimate by £SO, hospital maintenance expenditure would exceed the estimates by £IOOO, and charitable aid would be £I2OO above the amount estimated.
