WELLINGTON, Jan. 4. A high north-west wind in the Wellington district yesterday afternoon and evening caused some damage. Rain accompanied the wind at mg In! The instruments at the K.elbmn Observatory registered a gust of 65 miles an hour at 7.20 p.in , which is the force of a full gale. This afternoon the Meteoroiogie.il Office said that the wind was due to tire very intense low pressure area which covered the Dominion last night. Some very low barometic pressures had Ircen registered—2b.DO inches at Bluff and 28.95 at Cape Puysegur. Further strong winds could be expected.
