BOY’S FATAL SLIP

INTO BOILING POOL. TE PUKE, Jan. 4. A Maori boy, eight of age, was fatally scalded on Friday at Otaramara, Lake Rotoiti. He was skylarking near the boiling sulphur pools and springs, which are about 15 miles from Rotorua, on the Te Puke Road, when lie accidentally slipped and fell into a boiling al' - m nonl. Though the pool was shallow, the boy was severely scalded on ins hips. He was rescued by playmates in a semi-conscious condition, and carred home, a distance of two miles, over rough fern country. Late in the evening he succumbed to his injuries.
