CROSSING SMASH.
NINE DEATHS OUTSIDE CHICAGO,
New York, Jan. 1. At Chicago nine persons were killed when a motor-car was struck by the Canadian National train at a crossing 20 miles outside the city. Two families returning from New Year festivities were all killed except two babies, who were thrown clear.
