LANCASHIRE WEAVERS

A STOPPAGE LIKELY. LONDON, Dec. 31. The Lancashire Weavers’ Association, supported by nine unions with a membership of 290,000, has decided to withdraw all labour from the mills where the “more looms per weaver” system is introduced. The decision threatens a serious stoppage in the cotton industry on Monday, resulting in setting the whole trade at a standstill for a few weeks.

The first step in connection with the introduction of the “more-looms-per weaver” system throughout the whole of Lancashire was taken at a joint meeting of manufacturers in Manchester on November 14.
