A FRENCH AMAZON. Received January 2, 8.5 a.m. PARIS, Dec. 31. Gustave Beaunvillo, a burglar, “struck a Tartar” when he entered tho bedroom of Marie Grancichet, aged 25, who is a practised wrestler. The young lady sprang from her bed and put a hammer-lock on the intruder. Tho pair rolled down tho stairs, Mdlle. Grancichet grimly keeping a stranglehold until the police arrived. Beaunville pleaded that the girl had sufficiently punished him, but the Court did not agree and thought five years’ imprisonment a more fitting punishment.
