MISHAP TO ’PLANE.
FLYING-OFFICER BUCKERIDGE HURT. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Jan. 1. A mishap occurred to a Commercial Airways’ aeroplane at Waipiro Bay this afternoon, as a result of which tlie pilot, Flying-Officer J. Buckeridge, is now in Te Puia Hospital with a cut above the eye, but he is not badly hurt. The ’ plane is considerably damaged. It appears that the machine, a Spartan biplane, left Gisborne at about two o’clock for the coast to undertake passenger flights. Mr Frank Petre, of Wellington, was the passenger with Pilot Buckeridge. On arrival at Waipiro Bay the' ’plane was about to land on the beach when it stalled and hit an empty house, both being thrown out. Mr Petre was not injured. ,
