BIBLE CLASSES
THE MASTERTON CONFERENCE. MASTERTON, Jan. 1. The annual summer conference of the Presbyterian Bible Class Union was continued yesterday and to-day. The study circles met yesterday morning to discuss the first of a series of studies entitled the “Voice of God.” Sectional meetings followed, four for Sunday School teachers and two for the Bible classes. Rev. R. M. Ryburn, M.A., addressed the lenders’ circle in the evening, and later the roll call was held in the Town Hall. This morning the sectional meetings were continued, the senior Bible classes being addressed on “Approach to the New Testament” and “.The Four Gospels,” by Rev. J. Paterson, M.A., and the junior on “Rise Up, O Youth of God” and “My Church Expects,” by Miss Elliott. Mr Ryburn again addressed the leaders’ circle and a gathering in the Town Hall in the evening was addressed by Rev. J. R. Blanchard, 8.A.,wh0 selected as his subject, “God With Us in Christ.” The annual meeting of the Girls’ Auxiliary of the Women’s Missionary Union was held yesterday afternoon, Miss Gilmour presiding. After the formal business had been disposed of suggestions forwarded by the central committee concerning the 1931 conference were freely discussed. Sister Elliott gave an address on her work in India. The annual swimming sports were held yesterday afternoon. The results were ns follow: —Plunge, Men: H. Davies, 40ft 6in, 1 ; J. W. Moseley, 2.
