BLOOD FOR EX-CRIMINAL.
POLICEMAN’S SACRIFICE. In an effort to save the life of an ex-criminal, a policeman gave a pint of his blood; but the man died (says a London paper). The policeman is Mr T. D. Lewis, of the Douglas, Isle of Man, police force. Colonel Madoc, Chief Constable of the Isle of Man, received a message from a hospital that a patient was in a critical condition, but that a transfusion of blood might save him. Colonel Madoc immediately called for volunteers. Mr Lewis was selected, and the transfusion took place at the hospital,
