WOODVILLE, Jan. 1. The engagement has been announced of Frances Ellen, second daughter of Mrs and the late Mr Harry Turvey, formerly of Woodville, to George William, elder son of Mr and Mrs R. H. Wilson, of Dunedin North. The following further matches have been played by members of the Woodville Bowling Club for tho Bolton Cup: Pickering defq«ted Henderson; Rendle defeated Wardrop; Pickering defeated Bowman; Cotter defeated Rendle; and Horne defeated Curry. An old resident of Woodville recalls the fact that in the early days of this district the dairy fanners sold their butter to local storekeepers at fourpence per pound, and received payment in groceries and clothing.
