MOTHERS’ UNION.
PRESENTATION TO MRS MOORE. The Mothers’ Union entertained the League of Mothers at the monthly meeting in All Saints’ Girls’ Club room yesterday afternoon. In the absence of Mrs G. Y. Woodward, Mrs N. J. Metcalfe presided over the gathering and extended a warm welcome to the visitors. Rev. J. R. Neild gave a short address covering the message of Christmas, and songs were contributed by Mrs Russell, accompanied by Mrs Wollerman. During the afternoon Mrs Metcalfe made feeling reference to the coming departure of Mrs F. W. Moore from Palmerston North. Coming from the larger branch of Christchurch, Mrs Moore had been able to give much helpful advice to the Palmerston North branch and the new branches formed in the district. Sire had been a keen worker and the members would miss her very much. Mrs Metcalfe asked Mrs Moore to accept an oak tea wagon with the very best wishes of her friends in the union. In expressing her thanks for the gift and for the many kindnesses she had received while a member of the Palmerston North branch, Mrs Moore said that she would never forget the warm welcome that had been given to her on her arrival in Palmerston North, nor the good friends she had made here. Before the meeting closed Mrs Hancox returned thanks for the pleasant entertainment provided. An apology for absence was received from Rev. Canon G. \ r . Woodward and Mrs Woodward.
