Mrs L. A. Abraham, of Palmerston North, who has been visiting the Wairarapa, has returned to her home. Mrs G. Lloyd, of Hastings, is visiting her mother, Mrs R. Gardner, Terrace End.

Wellington. Miss Joan Landels, who was a visitor to Palmerston North, has now gone to stay with Miss V. Halee, Marton.

Mr and Mrs Hall, of Feilding, have taken up their residence in Masterton.

Misses Symes, of Hastings. have been on a short visit to Palmerston North.

Miss C. Somerville, of Feilding, is visiting Mrs J. Morrison, Palmerston North.

On the eve of their departure from Wanganui to take up their residence in Palmerston North, Mr and Mrs A. Lane were presented with a handsome rose bowl by the members of the St. Johns’s Tennis Club, of which Mr Lane is a life member and Mrs Lane, a vice-president. The engagement is announced of Lily May, only daughter of Mr and Mrs L. C. Driver, Main Street, Palmerston North, to Cohn, eldest son of Mr and Mrs T. A. Hastings, Palmerston North.

Miss Mavis Muirhead, L.A.8., L.T.C.L., who was the solo pianiste last night at the Palmerston North Orchestral Society’s concert, and Miss Elvira Wycherley, the solo ’cellist, are both members of the Palmerston North Girls’ Music Club. Both were enthusiastically received last night. Captain and Mrs Keith Stewart, who have lately returned from England, were in Ralmerston North yesterday. They will leave shortly for Ceylon where Captain Stewart has received an appointment.

Mrs A. E. Phillips, who for the past five years, has served the West End School faithfully in the capacity of caretaker, was made the recipient on Tuesday evening of a presentation in recognition of her services, being presented with a beautiful handbag b'y the members of the committtee and other friends.

The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, and Mrs Forbes were the guests of Captain and Mrs A. M. VaughanHughes at Adsett Court, AVestbury-on-Severn, recently. Mrs VaughanHughes is the only sister of Lord Bledisloe, Governor-General of New Zealand,‘ whose country home, Lydney Park, is in the neighbourhood.
