(Special to “Standard.”) A meeting of retailers on Friday discussel whether or not they should hold a carnival in Feilding next year and following an exhaustive discussion it was finally decided that the meeting favour Feilding holding a three-night carnival early in March in aid of some local object. During the discussion the recent city celebrations carnival in Palmerston North was frequently referred to, the general trend of the remarks, being that the week’s festivities had been very impressive and should prove an immense advertisement to the city. TOWN LIGHTING. The chairman reported that the retailers’ committee of the Chamber of Commerce had made application to the Mana-watu-Oroua Power Board for the installation of the usual street illumination for the Christmas period, the power required being supplied free.
