CHANGE OF NAME URGED.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —The suggestions re getting rid of our “North” are long overdue and should be followed up. To the writer’s mind nothing could be better than to change our name to Manawatu, but as it looks as though there will never be unanimity on that name, let us drop it and concentrate on Palmerston. Let our City Council and Chamber of Commerce jointly agree to approach Palmerston South with the suggestion that they graciously take steps to tack “South on to their Palmertson, leaving the field free for us to drop the “North.’ It is inconceivable they would decline, but if they do, then let our City Fathers approach the Government with a request that iu future the Post Office deliver all letters and parcels addressed “Palmerston to this centre first, and to all intents and purposes the change is accomplished. —I am, etc.,
