WORK AT AWAPUNI. FINAL GALLOPS FOR WOODVILLE. (By “Binocular.”) There was a small amount of fast work at Awapani this morning, some of the trainers having elected to delay their final gallops for Woodville. The outside of tne course proper and the plough were both in use, the former being firm and fast. Moutoa Treasury (Murray) was given her first track gallop for some considerable time and she snowed that she still retained must of her old time speed by running half a mile in 52 2-5 after taking 14 4-5 for the initial furlong. Hauibowline (W. Broughton), from practically a standing start, left his first furlong behind in 14 1-5 and then went on to run the half mile in 05 B6< Merry Damon (Murray) and Merry * Melody (Nicolson) were partners over a mile on the plough. They ran tne first furlong in 14 4-5, two in 29 4-5, the half in 57 3-5, and then came home in the same time to complete their task in 155 1-5 without being asked to give of their best. Patearoa (W. Broughton) was going equally as well as Dobbin (Dick) at the end of five furlongs on tne course proper which occupied 1.6 2-5. Spearopa (C. Broughton) and Lady Spear (Bell) were associated in a five furlong gallop on the plough, the pair getting to tne end of their task King Hal (R. Boyd), with a distinct advantage in the weights, finished better than Rule Britannia (L. Boyd) at the end of half a mile on the plough in 52 3-5. The former might run better under the lighter scale at Woodville. Mister Gamp (Reed) and Keddar (Green) were the only after-breakfast workers to be speeded up, the pair going a strong six furlongs on the plough to run 1.24 3-5 without being extended. GENERAL.
