TWO MEN ARRESTED.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 4. Arrested this afternoon, a taxi-driver named William Cornelius Torckler, aged 33, was brought later before the Police Court on a charge of counselling another man on November 26, 1929, to make a declaration which would amount to perjury if it were made on oath or affirmation in judicial proceedings. ■ The declaration was stated in the charge to have been made in support of an application by another man for State Advances loan. When accused was brought before Mr Woodward, S.M., a remand was applied for, and this was granted, accused being ordered to appeal next Thursday. Bail was allowed in £IOO, with two sureties of £SO each. Accused was ordered to report daily to the police. Another arrest made later was that of a man charged with making a false declaration in order to obtain a loan from the State Advances office.
