INCIDENT OF THE WAR.

FAAIOUS SOCCER FOOTBALL

Received November 18, 8.30 a.m

LONDON, Nov. 17. The famous soccer football of the East Surrey Battalion, which was kicked toward the German trenches while attacking Loos, in 1915, was placed near the pulpit of Saint Paul’s Church, Kingston, on the occasion of a service at which hundreds of footballers attended. The church was decorated with football trophies, miniature goal posts and corner flags. Sir Frederick Wall, president of the English Football Association, read the Lesson. The vicar, before preaching, blew a referee’s whistle.
