HEADLIGHTS OF CARS.

NEW REGULATIONS FORECAST

,f "Wlien the new regulations come into force there are going to bo some radical alterations concerning the headlights of cars, but until they are gazetted we will have to be patient, observed the chairman (Mr N. H. Mackio) at the annual meeting ot the Manawatu Automobile Association last evening, when the matter or glaring and wrongly focussed headlights was being discussed. , Comment was made by one member that on the previous night he had passed eight cars between Levin and Palmerston North, carrying only one headlight each. , ■, The chairman commented that he had had similar experiences and the service officer had been put on the road at nights with the view to minimising the trouble. He was carrying spares and would be available to lend assistance where it was required. In the event of an offer to remedy defective lights being ignored, lie had instructions to take the number of the vehicle concerned, and to hand it on to the proper authorities for action. However, there was no wish to bring about prosecutions, as the primary objective ot the association was to help motorists.
